MA Access to Justice Commission Update

Please join us for an online Commission discussion on December 15th. Consider nominating a colleague for the Mass Bar Association’s Access to Justice Award and save the date for the Equal Justice Coalition’s Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid.

Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission December 15th Zoom Convening

Please join us for a Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission Zoom Topical Convening on December 15th from 1-2:30. The Convening will focus on the landscape of self-help resources today, within the context of the Commission’s 2017 Justice For All Strategic Action Plan (SAP). In 2017 the Commission, along with many stakeholders, underwent a lengthy strategic planning process and developed the SAP, which has since framed much of the Commission’s work. We welcome Commissioners and the public to engage in conversation about what has been accomplished since 2017 and what to prioritize going forward. RSVP here by December 13th (zoom link to follow).

Nominate a Colleague for a 2023-24 Massachusetts Bar Association Access to Justice Award

The Massachusetts Bar Association annually recognizes the efforts of attorneys and law firms that have made significant strides in enhancing access to justice. Nominate a colleague by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. More information here.

Save the Date: Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid!

The Equal Justice Coalition’s (EJC) Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid is an annual event that gathers private bar attorneys, legal aid lawyers, and law students at the Massachusetts State House to ask their legislators to fully fund the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC). On January 25, 2024, the EJC will be hosting its 25th annual Walk to the Hill—and the first one back at the Massachusetts State House since 2020! More information here.

Thanks so much.
